Blurry Perspective

Wasn’t beauty universal? So why do I see it being assigned on the basis of how close our figure is to the hourglass figure. Why do our eyes only look pretty after we conceal our dark circles. When did our lipstick gain such power, that a change in its shade invites men. Why do stores only keep fitted, short-sleeved and bright coloured clothes in their women’s sections, are we not allowed to wear dark colours and baggy clothes? I don’t remember when people were given the right to label us boyish if we liked something “girls” couldn’t wear. Why does my beauty depend on all these things that will eventually fade away and not on my intellect, or my heart, or the fact that I love myself the way I am. After all, the number of gold medals I earn don’t matter if my body proportions aren’t right, because I can’t get married if I stay this way, right? I get all of this, what I don’t get is what is “this way.” Why is there a “way” on which people decide our future for us. Yes, it is our life, our future, our body. So, always remember, no matter how imperfect you are, you are still the most beautiful version of yourself as long as you are happy with it.
